Skilled Nursing
Skilled nursing is typically required for a short duration following surgery or complex medical needs requiring hospitalization. Our services can help an individual during recovery from stroke, surgery, fractures, wound care, and other illnesses. Golden Age strives to help individuals regain their vitality and return home to resume their normal life, with a focus on an individual’s health, activity function, and independence.
Skilled nursing services are performed by a registered nurse (RN) or a licensed practical nurse (LPN). These services may include intravenous injections, changing sterile dressings, or varied medical treatments.
In addition to a highly-trained nursing staff, our clinical team comprises licensed physical, speech and occupational therapists who provide a comprehensive range of rehabilitation services including balance management, fall prevention, cognitive skills, complex medical conditions and incontinence management. Together we provide a comprehensive treatment program within a supportive environment.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy helps to improve or restore physical function, to move more comfortably, and to alleviate pain. A therapist may also work with a patient to increase flexibility, strength, endurance, coordination and/or balance. The goal of physical therapy is to make daily tasks and activities easier such as walking, getting into and out of bed, going up stairs, etc.
Speech Therapy
The goal of speech therapy is to regain or improve communication skills, which might include speech, swallowing, and other language skills. The Speech Therapist may work together with our Registered Dietician to plan specialized diets for residents.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps to improve performance in daily living activities such as personal care (bathing, dressing, eating), home skills (housekeeping, cooking), writing, vision, thinking or judgment skills. In some cases, training may be required in learning to use a wheelchair or other assistive devices.
Health Care Partners
In addition to the comprehensive care offered by Golden Age professionals, we also have a solid relationship with other health care partners to provide supportive on-site services such as podiatry, dental, vision, behavioral health, private duty care, and hospice. Our Director of Nursing will assist to ensure smooth delivery of required health care services, with respect for the residents’ choice of providers.
